Supporting Youth Mental Health with the Pull Up Fund!
The Foundation Schools is proud to announce that we are one of three organizations in Prince George’s County to receive support through Pull Up Fund’s Youth Mental Health Supports initiative! The Pull Up Fund connects historically excluded communities to essential resources, with a focus on increasing access to mental health services, supporting youth initiatives, and providing resources for individuals returning to the community after incarceration. At The Foundation Schools, many of our students arrive with various mental health, social, and behavioral challenges which make our students at-risk for truancy, dropout, and involvement in the criminal justice system. Pull Up Fund’s ‘Youth Mental Health Supports’ awards seek to address the growing mental health challenges in our communities by supporting youth mental health initiatives across Prince George’s County. Through this award, we can sustain and expand our attendance support and wraparound service program, Foundation Links, which reconnects our at-risk students to their education through in-home therapeutic services, basic needs and community resource connections.
In April 2022, around 70 percent of public schools reported that the percentage of students who had sought mental health services from school had increased since the start of the pandemic (“Report on the Condition of Education”, Institute of Education Sciences 2023). Now more than ever, it is important that we are supporting our students through this youth mental health crisis so that they can live healthy lives and continue to be successful learners. We are truly grateful for the Pull Up Fund’s partnership as we ensure Foundation Links’ sustainability and ability to care for students in-need for years to come. Thank you Pull Up Fund for your generosity and support of our students with emotional disabilities and autism!
