Hear Marquette’s story as one of the many young adults overcoming homelessness in Washington DC this year.

While a student at The Foundation Schools, Marquette spent years being served by our Foundation Links team navigating leaving his unstable home, locating temporary housing, signing up for government assistance, and receiving basic needs to support himself. As a senior, he also received a laptop through the Life Enrichment Awards Program, to help him pursue post-graduation opportunities.

Now an employee of the U.S. National Parks Service, Marquette travels all around the city from site to site and relies on public transportation to get him where he needs to go. To further assist him, we are excited to announce that Marquette will be the first recipient of our new Emergency Fund to support his job transportation needs. Thank you to our donors for making this possible and for helping our community recover from the pandemic!!!

“Marquette was a student who was involved in our Links Program which is our wrap-around program for students who need additional support to succeed in school. He has such a wonderful personality and a big heart. Due to his home situation, we were afraid he wasn’t going to graduate, but he made it and we are so proud of him!”
