How we came together this holiday season

Coming Together for the Holidays (1)

How we came together this holiday season-

As the year is winding down, we are so overwhelmed by the kindness you have shown our students in need this holiday season. Our students live with significant disadvantages: 100% are diagnosed with an emotional disability or autism, and more than 80% live in poverty. Gratefully, your support of our holiday fundraisers has made the holidays a bit brighter. Come take a look at the impact we made together:

Back in October, you helped us raise funds for winter clothes, holiday meals, and gifts during the Fall Virtual Auction. We raised over $7,000 for this cause, and we hope you got some great gifts out of it as well. We are so happy you joined us!

Meanwhile, The Foundation School of Montgomery County hosted its annual Holiday Cheer Drive. Together, we collected over $1,500 to support our Montgomery County families in need. Before our schools close for winter break, our staff are shopping, wrapping gifts, and dropping off gifts to our students’ homes, spreading holiday cheer.

In addition to holiday meals and gifts, we re-launched our annual Book Fair! Funded by your donations, students from all three of our schools got to take home two books free of charge. We were so excited to host the book fair again after not being able to in 2020 during distance learning. Thank you for funding this event, helping support our student’s literacy skills and improving their connection to their education.

Finally, we would like to recognize all of our donors who gave throughout the season and to our partners who donated books, food, and gifts to support our holiday fundraising. Thank you to our business partners: Carpenter’s Shelter, Crossfit Hardshells, Drug Enforcement Administration, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Grace DC Homeless Project, Hope Builders, Inc., Mastermind Professional Development, Nino R. Vaghi Foundation, Team Takeover, The Lisa Libraries, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

We are moving forward together this year one child at a time, preparing them for success and a healthy start to 2022.
