The Foundation School at Blair G. Ewing, a Type II non-public program specifically for Montgomery County students, is located within the Blair G. Ewing Alternative School. The primary goal of The Foundation School at Blair G. Ewing is to integrate students in grades 6-12 back into the public school education program to the greatest extent possible. The program is designed to offer specialized programming to meet the unique needs of special education students with emotional disabilities, who display a spectrum of behavioral problems, learning challenges, social skills impairment, and social-emotional needs.

Dr. Michael Oshiro

Program Coordinator

Dr. Michael Oshiro began his journey with The Foundations Schools as Education Director at The Foundation School in Montgomery County, where he served for six years developing and implementing innovative teaching procedures and curriculums for our staff. Today, he brings his years of experience to our newest program at The Foundation School at Blair G. Ewing as our Program Coordinator. Dr. Oshiro holds a PhD in Special Education from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Master’s degree in Special Education from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He has spent nearly 10 years prior to joining The Foundation Schools as a special educator and researcher, teaching secondary English, history, and ethnic studies, while also working and advocating on behalf of students with disabilities in the foster care system.
